Hi nonnie! I am so amused. He in particular does slip up a lot more than she ever does. It’s hard to know why that is without knowing the reasonings for why they’ve chosen to do…whatever it is they think they are doing. A coworker of mine who knows Sam’s publicist well says she doesn’t think she’s the type to encourage clients to stage fake relationships, and word from inside Lionsgate is that the entire company is a mess internally (basically Outlander only has 1 main publicist who handles EVERYTHING from PR to social to marketing, hence the uneven nature of the show’s promotional structure)..it seems unlikely to me anyone there has their shit together enough to be pulling the strings, especially for two relative unknown stars outside the show.

So my gut feeling (today anyway) is that Cait & Sam are dictating whatever this back-and-forth messy mishegas is, hence the inconsistency in their behavior and their actions over the course of the show’s run.

Yes but literally even Helen Keller herself (God Bless Her Soul) could see that Lionsgate (& therefore STARZ) is a mess. Even if you don’t watch/follow/give a fuck about Outlander. (See also: Power, Starz’ highest rated show which also still has plenty of problems with marketing & promotion).

The company overall is in a weird transitional limbo flux period, morale is low, people in-house are overextended & uninspired & shit will inevitably fall through the cracks. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I highly doubt the Outlander show public relations person defines the strategy about restrictions on the talent’s lives (aka contractual stuff). She just designs and executes show specific show related public relations like events, booking talent on talk shows, etc. Any string pulling would be at the Albrecht level.
